Belgium has cool summers and moderate winters. Rainfall is 
distributed throughout the year with a dryer period from April to 
September. Sometimes easterly winds can cause warm and dry weather in 
the summer, but cold and clear weather in the winter with temperatures 
sometimes far below zero. The eastern regions have cooler and wetter 
climate with more rainfall and sometimes heavy snowfall in the winter.
Tourism in Belgium
Belgium is a popular tourist destination. Most of tourists come from 
France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and Italy. 
Tourists come to Belgium to enjoy its picturesque cities, some of which 
date to the Middle Ages; its artistic treasures; and its food. You can 
visit two of the big tourist attractions in Belgium, the Ardennes and 
the coast. The Grand-Place with its ornate Renaissance and baroque 
buildings is a most popular place in Brussels. Antwerp, Belgium’s chief 
port is also famous with its historic center. Oostende is the most 
popular beach resort in Belgium. Bruges is called: 'the Venice of the 
North'. This splendid medieval city is one of Belgium's crown jewels. 
Belgium fine cuisine attracts gourmets and gastronomic tourism is a 
popular in the country. Many of the national specialties are based on 
seafood. Belgian chocolates are internationally famous. Shopping in 
Belgium can be a real pleasure. Many affluent shops of Belgium sell 
everything from luxury designer wear to no-nonsense household goods. In 
Belgium, promotional discounts are only allowed in January and July; 
shops offer big discounts during these two months. Belgium is a famous 
with its pralines and chocolates. You can buy some hand carved crystal 
ware for your table. Don’t forget to buy some lace! Most international 
brands in clothing and cosmetics among other goods are available in the 
well-stocked stores.
